Monthly Archives: March 2015 is Going Mobile!

This will be a short post, possibly with more pictures than words 😉

Why? Because it’s about… going mobile! I wouldn’t have thought I would post someday about “mobile-friendly” 😉

In fact a few weeks ago we have received an email from Google saying how important it was to be “mobile-friendly” these days. With a link to a pdf study explaining why it was so important.

To be honest I thought that it was already the case for our website! I have never heard someone complaining about the fact that he or she couldn’t read our posts or navigate through the site 😉

But ok, if Google asks for it… 😉

So I have asked our IT guys: “How come that the site is not “mobile-friendly?! Don’t you have a smartphone? Why didn’t you check that?!” 😉

They gave me the lamest answers I’ve ever heard: “You didn’t ask“, “Do you mean responsive or mobile-friendly?“, “Who cares?“, “Are you serious? Any idea of all the changes?“, “Is it worth it?“, “Do you *really* think people want to read your stuff on their phones?“.

No need to argue or to tell them that our blog has readers in more than 100 countries, it would have been a loss of time 😉 Just do it!

So after some interesting discussions (fights) we finally found a kind of compromise and here we are!

The most important point for me is that all posts are still here.
And that the “look and feel” remained unchanged: easy to read and to jump from one page to another based on your interest 🙂

This reminds me of a great old movie: The Leopard, by Luchino Visconti with Burt Lancaster, Claudia Cardinale and Alain Delon, with this famous sentence: “If we want things to stay as they are, things will have to change.”

That’s exactly what we did! Changing everything so that nothing changes 😉

Hopefully our site looks now great on many smartphones. Look at that: on an iPhoneOn a Nokia Lumia

On a Google Nexus 7On an iPad mini

On an iPad

I hope you’ll enjoy it on your smartphone 🙂

If so, please tell us below: I know some IT guys who would be so happy 😉
